Crabtree & Evelyn Naturals Rejuvenating Creamy Body Wash

Posted in Body, Body Wash, Crabtree & Evelyn, Product Review at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

A few weeks ago my boss gave me and my co-worker body wash from Crabtree and Evelyn. I got the Mango and Grapefruit flavor.

I love body washes that smell great. It just gives me a boost in the morning to help wake me up. This one is definitely up there with my favorite smelling body washes. It’ so fruity and fresh – I’m going to be sad when this is finished. It leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized, thanks to the 20% mango oil.

If you’re looking for something that will leave your skin feeling great while smelling delicious in the shower check out Crabtree & Evelyn’s Naturals Rejuvenating Creamy Body Wash.

Also this Friday Crabtree & Evelyn will be having a 20% off sale for Black Friday – the perfect opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done.

Disclosure: I received this product as a gift.

EcoTools New Bath and Body Line

Posted in Body, Body Mist, EcoTools, Moisturizer at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

I was recently sent two of EcoTool’s products from their new bath and body line, the body lotion and the body mist, to review. I’ve honestly never used any other EcoTools products before so I was interested in checking these ones out.

First, a bit about the bath and body line. None of the products contain parabens or phthalates, and they aren’t tested on animals. The products are also 98% from nature. EcoTools has also committed to donating 1% of their annual sales to For The Planet – an alliance of businesses that donate to environmental organizations around the world. Now on to the reviews!

12000H Body Lotion OUT

The “Sustainable Softness” body lotion left my skin feeling moisturized for hours – thanks to the shea butter. It absorbed into my skin quickly without leaving it feeling greasy or sticky. The lid is a flip top one so it’s great for throwing into your bag for moisturizing on the go – a must for me. The only drawback for me was that I found the scent a little overpowering when I first applied it – but it did fade a bit to a scent that I liked more. A friend of mine tried it and said she liked how it smelled so it really comes down to how sensitive of a nose you have.

12002 Body Mist OUT

The “Blooming Planet” body mist provides a burst of fresh floral scent when you put it on – it reminds me of being in the middle of a big garden full of  blooming flowers. You don’t need a lot of it to smell great. It had great staying power too – I could still smell it on me hours later.

Would I buy either of these products? I would – they leave me feeling moisturized and smelling good while doing something good for the environment too. In addition I didn’t have any reactions from my sensitive skin.

The EcoTools bath and body line is available at Walgreens in the US and Wal Mart in Canada. The line ranges in price from $14.99 USD for the “Be Green, Live Clean” Body Care Set to $3.99 USD for the “Sustainable Softness” body lotion (the “Blooming Planet” body mist is $7.99 USD).

Olay Body Wash Plus Body Butter Ribbons

Posted in Body, Body Wash, Olay, Product Review at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

Olay

I’ve been using Olay’s Body Wash Plus Body Butter Ribbons for the last few weeks now and have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised with how well it moisturized.

I love body butters – love, love, love them in fact – so when I saw this at the drug store it was definitely calling my name. It leaves my skin feeling clean and moisturized without leaving a filmy feeling. I always seem to get drier skin during the really hot and really cold months so it was great to see it help up when my skin is feeling it’s driest.

You don’t need much on your puff to get a sudsy lather going. The Olay site even suggests using the body wash as a shaving lotion – although I haven’t tried it. The scent is great too – it’s not too overpowering but it definitely smells great.

If you’re in the market for a new body wash and you have dry skin I would recommend giving Olay’s Body Wash Plus Body Butter Ribbons a go.

Available for $6.50 at your local drugstore.

The Body Shop Cranberry Collection

Posted in Body, Holiday, Lips, Product Review, The Body Shop at 5:00 am by geeekygirl

the-body-shop-cranberry-shimmer-lip-balmIt’s officially my favorite time of year at The Body Shop. My all time favorite line of products is back in stock. Any product in the line is guaranteed to smell great. The lip balms and shimmer lotions add the little sparkle you’re looking for without being over the top. Wondering what it is?

It’s the Cranberry collection that comes out every holiday season. Every year I can’t wait to see it in stores and it’s been back for a few weeks now. I always stock up on the Cranberry Shimmer Lip Balm (my favorite in the entire line – $8) for the rest of the year. It smells amazing and it gives your lips a little touch of shimmer, great for the holidays. The Cranberry Home Fragrance Oil ($7.50) is also great, and the little bottle lasts for what seems like forever. The Cranberry Body Butter ($20) – like all of The Body Shop’s body butters is great too.

Run, don’t walk, to your local Body Shop and get some great gifts for the people on your Christmas list from the Cranberry line. And maybe get a little something for yourself too while you’re there. The Body Shop is also having a great sale on right now for all of their festive collections – buy 2 get 1 free!

The products in the Cranberry collection range from a very affordable $8 to $20.

Tone Sugar Glow Body Wash

Posted in Body, Body Wash, Product Review, Tone at 10:00 am by geeekygirl

I recently got a sample of Tone Sugar Glow Body Wash and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately I was only able to get two showers out of the sample so the next day I was on the hunt for it at the drug store.

It contains sugar which exfoliates your skin, which is a great addition considering winter and the cold weather that brings dry skin is on the way. The scent is tropically luxurious, without being overpowering. It’s a great smell to wake up to. It’s safe on my sensitive skin, it doesn’t cause any reactions. While my skin felt squeaky clean, it wasn’t left feeling too dry. All in all, I love everything about it.

While I used the body wash, it’s also available in bar soap.

Available at your local drugstore for $6.

The Body Shop Vanilla Body Lotion

Posted in Body, Moisturizer, Product Review, The Body Shop at 12:00 pm by geeekygirl

Sorry about the lack of posts over the weekend ladies. I was asked at the last minute to house and dog sit by some friends and I didn’t have a chance to fire off a couple posts before I left.

I’m a big fan of The Body Shop. I really like their body butters. I had never tried any of hteir body lotion though so I decided to give it a go.

I tried the Vanilla flavor, as vanilla is one of my favorite scents. This is where I think this product excels. It smells great but isn’t too strong. I found that it doesn’t moisturize as well as some of the other moisturizers I have, but it still gets the job done. It goes on well and is absorbed without feeling greasy for the most part, although I did have a few grasy feeling moments.

My bottle is almost empty, I only have enough for another two weeks, so I know I’ll have to head on over to The Body Shop to get another one. In addition to making great products The Body Shop also doesn’t test on animals and gets some of it’s ingredients from community trade sources (meaning that producers are paid a fair wage that they’re able to live off of). They’re also having a great sale going on now, with up to 50% off selected items.

Available at The Body Shop or online (http://thebodyshop-ca.stores.yahoo.net/) for $14.

Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion

Posted in Aveeno, Body, Moisturizer, Product Review at 12:00 pm by geeekygirl

I’ve never used any Aveeno products before this one. I’m so glad I found this though because it’s an amazing moisturizer. It contains oatmeal, which is explained on aveeno.ca that even in ancient times in Greece, Egypt, and Rome oatmeal was used to help moisturize the skin.

I have super dry hands and I had been on the hunt for something that would really keep them nicely moisturized. I had used lots of other moisturized that kept them feeling good for an hour or two but I wanted something more longer lasting.

Finally I decided to try Aveeno’s Active Naturals Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion. I really really like it. It doesn’t go on greasy. It gets absorbed into my skin fairly quickly. My hands feel luxuriously moisturized and soft for hours at a time, even though hand washing. I was even using this throughout the winter when my hands are at their worst and it kept my hands in shape. I had one exceptionally dry spot on one of my hands that wasn’t getting better using anything else. Within a couple days of using this it was gone! I was very impressed.

Available at drugstores for about $8.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen

Posted in Body, Neutrogena, Product Review, Sunscreen at 1:00 pm by geeekygirl

I got this sunblock at Shopper’s Drug Mart a few weeks ago and I’ve fallen in love with it. I have very fair skin and am really susceptible to the sun. I don’t tan, I burn. This means that sunscreen is my best friend whenever I’m in the sun. I was intrigued by Neutrogena’s addition of Helioplex in their sunscreens. It’s supposed to help keep UVA rays from breaking down the sunscreen and then getting to the skin.

Just as the name says, this sunscreen goes on nicely and after rubbing it in it it doesn’t feel wet or greasy. According to the website it won’t clog pores (which is great for my breakout prone skin), is water and sweat proof, PABA free, and available in three different SPF’s, 55, 70, and 80. At a minimum I always go for SPF 50, so it’s great to have high SPF’s over and above 50.

Apply sunscreen with an SPF 15 at least 20 minutes before going into the sun to allow it to absorb into your skin. Available at drugstores everywhere.
