Winter is definitely creeping in. That means socks, slippers, shoes, and even boots. Ugh. I have to admit I would go barefoot 24/7 if I could. I just don’t like having things on my feet. I don’t know what it is, but it just doesn’t feel right.

I’ve recently been using Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Creme. I’m really liking it too. It’s thicker than your typical creme, which makes it great for applying on your feet – it stays where you put it instead of dripping or sliding around. Because of it’s thickness it also feels like it really soaks into my skin, right where I need it.

Now the instructions recommend applying it at night and then putting cotton socks on. I agree that putting it on right before bed is a great idea, but I didn’t put socks on, though my feet definitely still felt moisturized. So I would say that the sock part is optional.

I’m really not a big fan of coconut. I don’t like the taste or the smell, but once I put this on my feet and washed my hands I didn’t smell it at all. It’s a good thing feet are a long way away from noses.

If your feet are feeling the effects of winter give Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Creme a try. It’ll leave your feet feeling moisturized.

Disclosure: I bought this product myself.

Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme

Posted in Burt's Bees, Cuticles, Hands, Product Review at 5:00 am by geeekygirl

burts-bees-lemon-butter-cuticle-cremeGreat things come in small (environmentally friendly) packages. That’s definitely true of Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme. I found it this summer at my local drugstore and didn’t have a chance to start using it til a couple weeks ago.

First off, according to their website, Burt’s Bees is a “Earth Friendly, Natural Personal Care Company.” Their products are made of natural ingredients (all products have a percentage on the package of exactly how much of it is indeed natural – the Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme is 95% natural). They package their products in environmentally responsible ways, using as many recycled sources as possible. They also don’t do any testing on animals.

So, on to the review. In short, I love it! It’s not too greasy. You can do stuff right after you put it on, you don’t have to wait for it to dry or get absorbed. It stays where you put it, it’s a creme texture, not a liquid like some cuticle moisturizers so you don’t have to worry about making a mess. The lemon smell is unbelievable, I love it. If you’re not as big of a fan of the scent as I am, you can always put this on right before bed and then you don’t have to worry about smelling it. It does amazing moisturizing things for my cuticles. I have possibly the world’s driest hands and even worse cuticles. This definately passed the test for me. Having great looking cuticles is even more important this time of year, heading into winter because of the cold and dry air. I’ve been using it for a couple weeks now and I can tell that it’s going to last forever, you really don’t have to put much on to have it work.

All in all it’s a great product that you should pick up if you haven’t already. Available at your local drugstore for $8.

Burt’s Bees Honey Lip Balm

Posted in Burt's Bees, Lips, Product Review at 4:50 pm by geeekygirl

I recently picked up Burt’s Bees Honey Lip Balm. It’s the first Burt’s Bees lip product I’ve tried and I have to say that I’m really impressed. I really like it.

It goes on really smoothly and keeps my lips moisturized for a surprisingly long time. It’s made from natural ingredients, which is a bonus. According to the website it includes “beeswax, shea butter, almond oil, cocoa butter and ultra emollient lanolin to keep your lips soft and healthy”. It’s great for layering under lip gloss to keep your lips feeling moisturized throughout the day.

The only thing that I think they could have improved on was the lack of SPF. Since most lip glosses don’t have SPF in them, I usually like to wear lip balm underneath that has SPF to protect my lips from the sun.

Available at drugstores and at burtsbees.ca for $4.50.
