Winter is definitely creeping in. That means socks, slippers, shoes, and even boots. Ugh. I have to admit I would go barefoot 24/7 if I could. I just don’t like having things on my feet. I don’t know what it is, but it just doesn’t feel right.

I’ve recently been using Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Creme. I’m really liking it too. It’s thicker than your typical creme, which makes it great for applying on your feet – it stays where you put it instead of dripping or sliding around. Because of it’s thickness it also feels like it really soaks into my skin, right where I need it.

Now the instructions recommend applying it at night and then putting cotton socks on. I agree that putting it on right before bed is a great idea, but I didn’t put socks on, though my feet definitely still felt moisturized. So I would say that the sock part is optional.

I’m really not a big fan of coconut. I don’t like the taste or the smell, but once I put this on my feet and washed my hands I didn’t smell it at all. It’s a good thing feet are a long way away from noses.

If your feet are feeling the effects of winter give Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Creme a try. It’ll leave your feet feeling moisturized.

Disclosure: I bought this product myself.

Dr Scholl’s For Her Open Shoe Insoles

Posted in Dr Scholls, Foot, Product Review at 3:34 pm by geeekygirl

I was intrigued by this insole when I saw an ad for it in a magazine. So much so that I had to go out to get it. During the summer I obviously wear a lot more sandals and flats (which notoriously have no arch support) which make for sore feet.

I went for this particular insole because it’s made to go inside sandals and heels. It’s purposely made to be small and discreet so that it doesn’t show. Although because of it’s smallness it made it hard to place in my shoe accurately. Since it doesn’t cover the entire bottom of the shoe you have to place it where you think it should be, put your foot in, and move the insole around til it’s in the right place. It doesn’t seem like much of a pain, until you’re five minutes late trying to get out the door and you realize you have the insoles in the last pair of sandals you wore and you have to put them into the pair of flats you want to wear now.

When I first took them out of the package the backing was pretty sticky. Once I placed them in my shoes they didn’t move around. However, a couple weeks later and they aren’t sticky at all. They slide around in my shoe and don’t stay put. I can’t even wear them with sandals anymore because they don’t stay in one spot even when I’m walking.

I do however really like the soft lining, it’s almost velvety and feels great on the bottom of my feet. And the gel cushioning at the ball of the foot and heel was right where I needed it the most.

Although this product is a great idea in theory, it doesn’t really pull through in real life.

Available at drugstores for $9.

Freeman Barefoot Iced Teaberry and Mint Foot Lotion

Posted in Foot, Freeman, Product Review at 1:00 pm by geeekygirl

I found this at the drugstore a couple weeks ago when I was looking for something to keep my feet looking pretty. I haven’t used any Freeman products since I was in high school so I figured why not?

To start off with, I love the scent of Iced Teaberry and Mint. It’s not like anything I’ve smelled in other products. It’s great. As far as moisturizing and keeping your feet soft, it does a great job. It absorbs quickly into your skin and doesn’t feel greasy. Although I do recommend using it at least once, if not twice a day to keep your feet looking their best. I house sat a couple weekends ago for some friends and forgot to bring this with me. When I got home and started using it again it took a day or two for my feet to get back to their soft and moisturized selves.

The Iced Teaberry and Mint flavor also comes in a Cream Pumice Foot Scrub, which is next on my list of foot products to try.

You can pick it up at drugstores for $6.
