Crabtree & Evelyn Naturals Rejuvenating Creamy Body Wash

Posted in Body, Body Wash, Crabtree & Evelyn, Product Review at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

A few weeks ago my boss gave me and my co-worker body wash from Crabtree and Evelyn. I got the Mango and Grapefruit flavor.

I love body washes that smell great. It just gives me a boost in the morning to help wake me up. This one is definitely up there with my favorite smelling body washes. It’ so fruity and fresh – I’m going to be sad when this is finished. It leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized, thanks to the 20% mango oil.

If you’re looking for something that will leave your skin feeling great while smelling delicious in the shower check out Crabtree & Evelyn’s Naturals Rejuvenating Creamy Body Wash.

Also this Friday Crabtree & Evelyn will be having a 20% off sale for Black Friday – the perfect opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done.

Disclosure: I received this product as a gift.

Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Creme

Posted in Burt's Bees, Foot, Product Review at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

Winter is definitely creeping in. That means socks, slippers, shoes, and even boots. Ugh. I have to admit I would go barefoot 24/7 if I could. I just don’t like having things on my feet. I don’t know what it is, but it just doesn’t feel right.

I’ve recently been using Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Creme. I’m really liking it too. It’s thicker than your typical creme, which makes it great for applying on your feet – it stays where you put it instead of dripping or sliding around. Because of it’s thickness it also feels like it really soaks into my skin, right where I need it.

Now the instructions recommend applying it at night and then putting cotton socks on. I agree that putting it on right before bed is a great idea, but I didn’t put socks on, though my feet definitely still felt moisturized. So I would say that the sock part is optional.

I’m really not a big fan of coconut. I don’t like the taste or the smell, but once I put this on my feet and washed my hands I didn’t smell it at all. It’s a good thing feet are a long way away from noses.

If your feet are feeling the effects of winter give Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Creme a try. It’ll leave your feet feeling moisturized.

Covergirl Wet Slicks Crystals

Posted in Cover Girl, Lip Gloss, Lips, Product Review at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

Haha, I just realized I haven’t reviewed a lip gloss in over a year! It’s even better that I very rarely wear lipstick – I almost always go for a gloss. So here’s a first – enjoy!

It’s hard for me to pass up lip gloss when I’m out shopping – they’re just so pretty – and really, can you ever have enough? I had never tried Covergirl’s Wet Slicks Crystals Lip Gloss before so I thought I’d give it a go.

I’m pretty happy with it. While the brush isn’t anything special it does apply the lip gloss well, leaving my lips looking great but not feeling sticky. I have to reapply a few times throughout the day, particularly after eating. I really like the color – I went with Crush, a pink – it adds color and a little sparkle but it’s overpowering.

Wet Slicks Crystals Lip Gloss is available in eleven different colors – from berry to clear, and available at your local drugstore.

Disclosure: I bought this lip gloss for myself.

Covergirl Professional Super Thick Lash Mascara

I recently picked up this mascara at the drug store. I just can’t resist mascaras!

I decided to go with very black. The brush is great – I really like it. It’s not huge but it feels like it has substance. I thought it was easy to get the little lashes in the corners too. The formula was good too – it wasn’t clumpy and it added volume to my lashes. It stayed put and disn’t smudge throughout the day.

There are four colors available, but unfortunately it’s not available in a waterproof formula. According to the Covergirl website it’s ophthalmologically tested as well as being a great pick for sensitive eyes and those who wear contacts.

Covergirl’s Professional Super Thick Lash Mascara is available at your local drugstore for $8.

Secret Invisible Antiperspirant

Posted in Antiperspirant, Product Review, Secret at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

037000123316I’ve been using this antiperspirant for a few weeks now and let me tell you I’ve really been testing it. I’ve had a couple weeks of summer like weather and it’s been really hot. My job requires me to be outside quite a bit too so I’ve really given it a test.

I found that to ensure that it is indeed invisible I was only able to put one or two swipes of it on – anymore than that and it was visible. Unfortunately for me I needed more than two for odor protection so the invisible advantage wasn’t for me.

Once I had enough on though it worked like a charm. No BO or wetness. I went for the baby powder scent – I always do – but it’s also available in Sheer Clean, Shower Fresh, and Spring Breeze. I checked out the other ones when I got this one and my next favorite scent is definitely Spring Breeze.

Life brand Moisturizing Shave Gel for Sensitive Skin

Posted in Life brand, Product Review, Shave Gel at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

I’m constantly on the look out for a shave gel that will be gentle on my sensitive skin but also give me a close shave. I was at Shopper’s a couple weeks ago checking the shave gels out and decided on Life brand’s Moisturizing Shave Gel for Sensitive Skin because I had never tried it before – plus it was on sale.

I hate shaving. It’s not so much actually doing it, but after I get out of the shower my legs hurt because the shaving irritates my skin and I end up suffering for the next hour. It’s not fun to say the least, so I was hoping that this shave gel would make a difference.

I was pleasantly surprised actually. I wasn’t expecting to be because it’s a store brand, but I was. Even though my legs did still hurt a little after, it was nothing like it usually is. I’m not sure what it was that made the difference, but it definitely worked. I’ve used “sensitive” skin formulas before without much of a difference, but this one didn’t leave my skin feeling as irritated as usual. As for the shaving it did give me a close shave – just as good as any brand name shave gel.

So if you’re looking for a shave gel to leave your skin feeling good after shaving, I would recommend Life brand Moisturizing Shave Gel for Sensitive Skin.

Available at your local Shopper’s Drug Mart.

Sephora Brand Multi Action Nail Polish

Posted in Hands, Nail Polish, Product Review, Sephora at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

P189204_hero

I had been looking for a pretty brown colored nail polish for awhile. There weren’t a whole lot to choose from, but when I saw this shade called Brownie (below)  in Sephora I knew it was the one for me. Isn’t it pretty?

It goes on well and needs two coats to get good coverage that left me with a smooth finish. I really liked he brush and found it easy to work with.

I ended up putting it on that night and I have to say I’ve been impressed ever since. I’ve used it numerous times over the last couple months and I love the way it wears. It has to be one of the longest lasting polishes I’ve ever used – it stays on for what seems like forever with very little chipping.

There are 12 shades available in this line, from red to pink to silver. I think my next purchase might have to be Sormy Pink (above).

Available at your local Sephora for $8 or check it out online here.

PS I’ve been looking EVERYWHERE for Essie’s Matte For You topcoat – but I can’t find it. I’ve asked store employees and both times they have no idea when I’m talking about. So, if you’re a fellow Canadian and have found it somewhere can you let me know, pretty please?

Dove Sensitive Skin Foaming Facial Cleanser

I’m always on the search for the perfect cleanser for my oily, sensitive skin so I was pretty excited when I saw Dove’s Sensitive Skin Foaming Facial Cleanser at the drugstore. I knew I had to give it a try.

First off, I really like the packaging. Because everyone is going on vacation or heading out for a weekend away during the summer, the flip top lid is perfect for putting in your suitcase – you don’t have to worry about it getting all over the place.

I found that this cleanser left my face feeling clean – it got all the makeup off – without stripping my skin of it’s moisture. You can’t go wrong with that. I also liked that it didn’t have a fragrance. It’s kind of nice not being bombarded with yet another smell while getting ready in the morning. I really only needed a small amount to clean my face – it lasted longer than I thought it would.

Available at your local drugstore for $10.

Life Brand Lip Balm

Posted in Life brand, Lip balm, Lips, Product Review at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

I’m constantly losing my lip balms. I mean all the time – I’m doing really well if I don’t lose one for a couple weeks. I don’t know what it is with them, but I just can’t keep track of what I do with them. They’re such an essential in my makeup back for this crazy Canadian weather we have here, but it feels like I never have any when I need them.

Recently I was checking out Shopper’s Drug Mart’s selection of lip balms and decided on the Life brand ones. Really, what’s the use of spending a ton of money on them if I’m only going to have them for two weeks? So I got a two pack.

While I have to say it does work pretty good, I find the application a little tricky sometimes. You have to be careful not to put too much on or else it ends up getting a weird gummy texture thing going on that’s not good. As long as you’re not too heavy handed though it works like a charm.

I went with the cherry flavor. I’m sure there were a few varieties to pick from, but I can’t remember what they are and the Shopper’s website isn’t cooperating with me. The next time I’m in there though I’ll check it out and update this post.

Available at your local Shopper’s Drug Mart for $2.69.

Olay Body Wash Plus Body Butter Ribbons

Posted in Body, Body Wash, Olay, Product Review at 6:00 am by geeekygirl

Olay

I’ve been using Olay’s Body Wash Plus Body Butter Ribbons for the last few weeks now and have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised with how well it moisturized.

I love body butters – love, love, love them in fact – so when I saw this at the drug store it was definitely calling my name. It leaves my skin feeling clean and moisturized without leaving a filmy feeling. I always seem to get drier skin during the really hot and really cold months so it was great to see it help up when my skin is feeling it’s driest.

You don’t need much on your puff to get a sudsy lather going. The Olay site even suggests using the body wash as a shaving lotion – although I haven’t tried it. The scent is great too – it’s not too overpowering but it definitely smells great.

If you’re in the market for a new body wash and you have dry skin I would recommend giving Olay’s Body Wash Plus Body Butter Ribbons a go.

Available for $6.50 at your local drugstore.
